Tommy happens to fall in love with her, also, and she, tiring of Mike's habits, returns his affection. Mike has a lovely, personable girlfriend he is forever neglecting he is the supreme egotist. Tommy (Billy Campbell) is a mechanic for a hotshot race driver named Mike (Rob Estes).
